The value of apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are high on the Government agenda and provide employers with a great way to train existing staff, often boosting retention rates. They also give you the opportunity to recruit and then train enthusiastic new staff members for your business.

The economy

  • 4 million apprenticeships were started in England during the last parliament*
  • The Government is heavily investing in apprenticeships and plans to double the annual investment in apprenticeships between 2010-11 and 2019-20*
  • The number of apprenticeships increased to 899,400 in 2015/16, an increase of 3.2% on 2014/15*
  • In 2014/15 there were more than 250,000 workplaces with an apprentice

You and your business

  • Your staff will receive high quality, sector specific-training
  • Apprenticeships boost productivity to a business by an average of £214 per week*
  • 87% of employers said there were satisfied with their apprenticeship programme*
  • Apprenticeship training leads to greater motivation and increase staff retention
  • Apprenticeships can help you plan for the future and fill skills shortages in your industry. Research has shown that 25% of former apprentices are promoted within 12 months of finishing their qualification*
  • Your staff can progress on to further qualifications, helping to promote growth in your business.

Employers – if your apprentice is under the age of 25 and paid above the apprenticeship wage, you no longer need to contribute to their National Insurance Contributions. Contact us to find out more.

Your employees

  • They can progress through various pathways, promoting company loyalty.
  • Your employees will be supported throughout their qualification by our expert training team. They will provide support, guidance and feedback to help your employee achieve their qualification.
